In United Nations, 1998’s Friendship day, Nane Annan, wife of Kofi Annan (UN Secretary General) named Winnie the Pooh as the world’s Ambassador of friendship. U.N. Department of Public Information and Disney Enterprises co-sponsored the event.
In some countries including India Friendship Day is celebrated on first Sunday of August. Though on 27thJuly 2011 the 65th Session of the United Nations General Assembly declared 30th July as ‘international Friendship Day’.
